I just came across a very cool little piece of software called "ROR".
ROR will create a sitemap for your website. A sitemap makes it easier
for Google and Yahoo to index your site. If you plan on making it
online. You Need To Have a Sitemap!




Click Here to download ROR. It's Free!

1) Download ROR to your desktop
2) Unzip and install ROR
3) Where it says Site URL enter your domain name...Our Domain name is www.vodahost.com whats yours?
4) Click "generate sitemap"
5) when the site map is done, click "save as"
6) save it to your desk top as ror
7) upload it to your public_html folder using blueFTP. If you do not know how to do this, click the below link for a tutorial on the topic

Thanks for the download prog ROR Generator, Now as I have two boxing gloves for hands how do I use it best?
Do I for instance place the web pages of my site under construction and then they will be sorted or am I as usual barking up the wrong tree?

Don't stress, the first thing to do is get your site up and running. If your
site is not done, ROR will have nothing to map out....Let's not try to put
the horse before the cart.

Steps to follow...

1) Finish site
2) Map site

Just upload the complete sitemap to your public_html and create a very discreet hyperlink to it
from your home page. Google will do the rest.

You probably just got a bad download. Delete what you downloaded and try again.

I am also being told I need to download .Net framework version 1.1.4322 for the ror to download correctly. I got rorgen10 as a link but cant open without this download. Went into the download page and found it takes 25 minutes. Is there anyway to avoid this download and still use ror?

You are probably missing some sort of service pack. As of right now, we
have had 1405 ROR downloads from our downlaod page and only two cases
like this....My advice is before you go to bed tonight, download the framework
so it will be on your computer by morning. I know its a big download. You are

Hey Brad - I downloaded the program and when I tried to install it that was the message I recieved. The message I get is:
This network requires the .NET Framework version 1.1.4322. Please install the .NET Framework and run this set up again.
I looked on my program list and I have the 1.1.3 version but Im guessing I need an upgrade on it. Ill try your link - Thank you so much!

I am confused..
I downloaded the ror.zip into BlueVoda.

Do I then save this zip into BlueVoda, Open? then unzip, then save in BlueVoda?

Next?? in BlueFTP, make a new folder called zipfiles? Will it unzip from there?

ROR has nothing to do with BlueVoda, keep them separate. unzip and
install ROR, Please read through this thread for more instructions. Please
read the thread exactly above yours to learn how to use BlueFTP.

The way you link it is up to you. test the link by clicking on it.

Another question about the sitemap. If you have more than one page on your website, do you add that link to your sitemap as well. Also If your website is on other peoples websites, (link exchanges) would you add their site to the generator. A bit new to all this so any help on how to get the most out of tool would be great.

Just your home page is fine..It is your most important page. It is the starting
point of your website.

Because I've had little luck with Google, (other SEs, OK) I decided to add ROR. According to their instructions, after creating the xml site map & uploading, I tried to insert the link
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="ROR" href="ror.xml" /> into the HEAD portion by going to "Page HTML", picking the tab "Between Head Tag", and pasting it (it appears in the HEAD section) & publishing. Now when I go to my site and right click to "view source", the code appears in the "body" portion. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? My site is http://www.trencon.com

What is your ROR file linked to? I can't find it. Do not just insert it in the header, also hyperlink it from your index page.

Deep sigh - it took me many moons and much fish to eat and finally I do believe that the download was complete for the .net framework! I have now done as written and I think that I have the ror.xml button up and on my site correctly?! It seems to work properly any way...Thank you for the advice and help!

Why must you close it? Move it somewhere it doesn't bother you. However youn delete it the clasic way: select it and delete it

Upload the ror.xml file using ftp, and link the ROR image in your index page to the ror.xml file

I added ror sitemap generator some weeks ago and it was working with Google. However, Google recently stopped finding the site (harbourfolkband.com) - I later realised I hadn't made a discreet link from the home page to the .xml file and I fixed that. I also did the whole ror generation process again and have a ror.xml file in my public_html FTP area plus a discreet link on the homepage http//www.harbourfolkband.com/ror.xml - however, Google doesn't find the site. Do you have any ideas ????

Not 100% certain but think you have to wait for the googlebot to crawl your site again. You can tell when it has by checking your AWSTATS in control panel.
