When do search engines start working

Can anybody tell me after launching my internet site, how many time it takes before the search engines like google.. start recognizing my site and listing my site in their search??

Google send spybot to index sites at least once a month.

The date is not known. I say "at least" once a month.

It is true that if you nothing more than publish your site it could take a month or even longer for google to pick up your site. What you should to is go to google webmaster tools and use their tools to tell them your site map is published along with all the other stuff they have. It is all free and you will get results straight away.

Another good tip is to join hotfrog this is also free and I have just finished a new site and it is showing top 5 positions immediately.

There is No set time in for Google to initially index your site - the time taken can vary.
The time it does take may vary based upon factors such as;

* Popularity of the site (Whether it has any links to it)

* Whether the content is Crawl-able (Server Responses and Content type)

* Site structure (how pages interlink)

It is possible for a site to be crawled/indexed within 4 days to 4 weeks.
In some cases, it may take longer.
