Can Anyone Recommend a Reliable Browser?

Ok. I got really miffed with IE as I kept getting errors that just chucked me out of everything. I sacked it.

Got myself Netscape which was fine until I upgraded to 8.1. Now I'm getting debug errors and 'cannot find site errors' much of the time. Most times it corrects after I've closed and reopened but not always. Sometimes I have to reboot the pc and router.

Has anyone got any advice or experience with Firefox or any other browser that they can recommend I try? Or is it a case of 'they all have their problems'?

I've heard IE 7 is good, you can download it at microsofts site (I think its still in beta). I personally use FF, but I wouldn't recommend netscape, they are WAY behind the times, they don't support many features that other browsers do.

Thanks Watdaflip. After IE, Netscape was lovely and it had tabbed browsing which was cool. But since the update it's just getting worse.

I'm going to try the two that Race mentioned and see where I go from there, but I might download FF too then I can pick and choose depending on what I'm doing.

IE 7 is very cool, but it's still way too buggy to be used as an everyday browser. Once they have the kinks worked out, though, it's gonna be awesome.

I use IE the most, cuz it's what most of the people surfing use - but also use firefox (which has GREAT tools) and netscape - cuz they come in 2nd and 3rd. Unfortunately, I don't pick based on what I like the best - but want to see what my customers see most of the time.

Unfortunately, I can't see things like mac users do - so have a friend who always checks my sites on his mac.

Yes! Went straight to one of the sites where I've been having problems and it viewed perfectly. I put up with that darn browser for weeks too! Should have come here and asked ages ago.

Slim Browser and Maxthon are both IE based, so you still see things the way your users would with IE, but you have the advantages of tabbed browsing and fewer "issues". IE 6 is a dinosaur.

I deleted the Netscape, couldn't delete the McAfee, it wouldn't let me, so I had to delete the Spyware that I had, cleaned out my registry with the Registry Mechanic and things are looking up. The McAfee alsos checks for errors, waste files and fixes them.

I still use the IE though. It's not as fast, but then I think my computer may be outdated too. I have an HP Windows XP. But I got it for free from my stepson, so I can't complain!

Thanks Mariposa. If you're feeling adventurous (lol), I love the new one, SlimBrowser, that Race recommended. It's tons better than IE and Netscape and that's only after one day lol. The link is on this thread if you want to have a look :o)

Opera is good, but it's no better than Maxthon or SlimBrowser and both those are free. I'm not sure how it is now, but when I used Opera you either had to pay for it or there was advertising at the top of it.

She discusses Foxfire and you can down load it from her site. She is a great source for computer freeware/problem solving and all kinds of helpful stuff.

I am back on IE now (with Windows XP) and it seems better but I also have about 8 protective layers between me and the world. Like having sex in a snow suit.

Opera is completly Free, Fast, secure and changable to your needs....

HEY JUST A SECOND. 10 MINUTES OUT AND IE 7 CRASHED 4 TIMES FOR ME. I USE FIREFOX UNTIL IT NEED IE (cut and paste). Dale

I'd recommend Macecraft instead. It's much more conservative and safer.

In Mozilla there's a ;itt;e feature, if you press ctrl + it enlarges the page/ or ctrl- which decreases the page. If you use this feature. You will quickly realize that set ups are better than others when it comes to BV builder or any drag and drop website builder.

This is an old post, btw, but seeing as I had to restore my system to new last week has regained a little relevance. Lol. I'm using SlimBrowser right now and I really love it. It has a similar feature. I plan to download FF and a few others though so that I can pick and choose depending on what I'm doing. I will, however, not be using Netscape or IE, as I firmly believe that they are both bob. Thanks for your input.

After reading, decided to also install Slim Browser. Switched from IE default to FF since March. Less problems. Will see how this new SB works. I'm up for anything new and recommended here. On occasion I get a little gliche with FF but not worth going back to IE. I do find the Manage Bookmarks is not as user friendly as IE or I'm not quick to change my old methods...no big deal. I'll give feedback on the SlimBrowser...

I have recommended Firefox , I think the current version is 1.5 you can easily transfer all bookmarks from IE.
