    Default Robots.txt file

I have just brought my website back home to BV after 12 months away. Gotta say, it's great to be back.
OK here we go, 1st question.
Is a robots.txt file still needed here. I notice in page properties/ misc you can choose from index follow, no index follow, no index no follow etc.
