photos have red circle with exclamation point

I recently built my website and uploaded with no problems. Today I go to blue voda builder and my original files are gone. The only thing that remains are the backup files. When I open those there is a red circle with an exclamation on all the photos I have added to my page. They display fine when I preview it. Any ideas why this may have happened?
