    An old Cherokee chief is teaching his grandson about life: "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
    "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
    "One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, worry, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
    "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
    "This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too"
    The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked this grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
    The old chief simply replied, "The one you feed."

    I wrote a poem to the moon

    But no one noticed it;

    Although I hoped that late or soon

    Someone would praise a bit

    Its purity and grace forlone,

    Its beauty tulip-cool...

    But as my poem died still-born,

    I felt a fool.

    I wrote a verse of vulgar trend

    Spiced with an oath or two;

    I tacked a snapper at the end

    And called it Dan McGrew .

    I spouted it to bar-room boys,

    Full fifty years away;

    Yet still with rude and ribald noise

    It lives today.

    'Tis bitter truth, but there you are-

    That's how a name is made;

    Write of a rose, a lark, a star,

    You'll never make the grade.

    But write of gutter and of grime,

    Of pimp and prostitute,

    The multitude will read your rhyme,

    And pay to boot.

    So what's the use to burn and bleed

    And strive for beauty's sake?

    No one your poetry will read,

    Your heart will only break.

    But set your song in vulgar pitch,

    If rhyme you will not rue,

    And make your heroine a bitch...

    Like Lady Lou .

    Hi, there. When I divorced the mother of my two daughters (who eneded up with me full time at 14 and 16 y/o...wow, what an experience), I got very creative, writing lyrics to Jimmy Buffet type songs and even writing a book about how to evaluate your relationship (or marriage). I came up with a catchy phrase as a title of the book and copyrighted it, thank Heaven! Being a guy, though, the title was kind of chauvinistic, so I created some balance and came up with an ACRONYM for my titles.

    So what does that have to do with favorite quotes? Well, someday, these quotes may be very famous, but if nothing else, I hope they will add a smile to the face of someone who is suffering through a divorce. Those that undergo this extremely streeful event, need all the smiles they can get, so my intent is to create some. Being the guy that I am, however, I will also be selling caps and shirts and bumper stickers, etc. at my website, which is under development. They are both copyright protected:

    "Life's A Bastard...Until You Divorce One" and
    "Life's A Bitch Until...You Divorce One"

    I cannot remember who said to who. Occurred in a cricket Test match between Australia and South Africa.
    Aussie fielder to rather stout South African batsman: Hey man, why are you so fat?
    South African batsman: Because every time I make love to your wife she gives me a biscuit.

    Thumbs up Re: Favorite Quotes -

    Here are two of my favorite quotes by Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain and I dedicate them to Bethers in her recent forum promotion:

    "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

    "Many a small thing has become large by the right kind of advertising."

    I watched and interview with the 2007 Superbowl winning coach, Tony Dungy, and one thing he said during the interview hit me like a 280 lb defensive tackle. It was something very close to this. (I may have missed a couple of words) "Great people are not people that do great things, they are people that do everyday things exceptionally well."

    Hey guys, I love this thread I hope it keeps going.

    Lets have a phone.Its really amazing and a wonderful joke that happened in my house 6 months back.Here we have a toy snake which looks like original one.Here there is one servant to do outside jobs like digging and cleaning.He is a particular type of person.One day we did one thing.We put that snake where he sits usually.When he saw that snake he dint move for a while.He wanted to take his clothes but he is afraid.If the snake attacks him.He looked for a while and a little breeze came and the snake moved a little.He jumped from that place with his life.He came to tell that there is one snake.I and my friends never minded that.We were watching his movements from start to end.

    Memento Mori

    Memento mori is a Latin phrase that may be freely translated as "Remember that you are mortal," "Remember you will die," or "Remember your death". It names a genre of artistic creations that vary widely from one another, but which all share the same purpose, which is to remind people of their own mortality.

    In ancient Rome, the phrase is said to have been used on the occasions when a Roman general was parading through the streets of Rome during the victory celebration known as a triumph. Standing behind the victorious general was a slave, and he had the task of reminding the general that, though he was up on the peak today, tomorrow was another day. The servant did this by telling the general that he should remember that he was mortal: "Memento mori."
