  • first site; how do you like it?

I've been working on this for a while, and it's finally ready and published. Looking forward to feedback, and perhaps a better way to install images, I'm afraid they will take too long to load for some people. But then, maybe they're OK?
    Hope you like it!

      Hi Pam,
Nice concept, and you are putting your ideas across very well.
You really need to cut down on the byte size of your pics, as you have already guessed.
The way some of the pics stick out sideways are detracting from the pics themselves, you just need to do some tweaking here and there.
For your first site, you are doing really well, me thinks you have been garnering info from these forums............well done.
      Will visit your site again.
      Have fun
      Regards..... David

Re: first site; how do you like it?

I agree with Ann and David, Pam... very good start!
Links at the bottom of each page can't be seen in that dark fuschia against the dark green. Pictures really need to be resized... mural page is the slowest to load and you will lose customers if they have to wait. You can always have a link to a thumbnail of a picture that gives a bigger view, your customers will appreciate it.

The main thing that I want to point out are the number of fonts and font sizes you are using. For a professional site, try sticking to 2 fonts and no more. On one page you change the font size a few different times and it makes the reader stumble a bit. If you need the different sizes, put just a bit more space above and below to break it up a bit. You are doing a great job... I can't wait to see the finished site!

Re: first site; how do you like it?

          Hi Pam,

What a great Idea...youve done a nice job so far ..like the colours, just a few things I noticed could do with a bit of adjusting.

Like David said, your pics need resizing some were very slow to load even on my broadband and theres some overlapping of words on most of the pages...FE..on the "Redesign page"..part of "Interior Redesign" is under the first picture, "Wall Murals" overlaps "A little background"...the pink links at the bottom of your page are hard to read to.

Your title "Change in Rooms" is dropping off the oval shape to the bottom left on every page.

Also you need to set your page widths and center them, you have a big sideways scroll on a few of them, most people will not stay around if they have to scroll sideways to much......click the links below to fix this.

Nice job tho ..well done....keep tweaking :o)

Re: first site; how do you like it?

              Thanks for the great feedback!
Some things you mentioned that I'm still trying to figure out and will try to clear up asap:
              1) Why the bottom links are showing pink when I selected cream like the box above the words.
              2) How to make the pictures smaller for quicker loading. ( Thanks for the link, I will check it out.)
              3) I'm not sure why the titles are off the ovals and words overlap? They appear fine on my screen.
              4) I thought I was setting widths and centering...

Still some work to do, but ever so thankful for all the support and guidance!!!

              Kindly,
              Pam

P.S. Thanks, Doug, I fell in love with the background because of its color, and everything else flowed from there.

Re: first site; how do you like it?

Hi, Ditto with the above. Especially Dori comments with the images? You have over
3000 kb’s of images on your front page & the total page with text should not be much over 200 kb for fast loading. You should be able to get these 4 images down to about 30/40 kb each or even less. Think you will have the same problem on other pages.
But the looks & feel of the site is great.

                Good luck.
PS. This may not be the correct way? But try this link for centring your pages. I personally find it easier.
