Hyperlink Assistance

Hello all,

I finally got my website published. Having problems with linking pages. Sometimes they work, other times they don't. I have verified all links and they appear fine until I preview my pages. I get the message "IP address not found during DNS lookup". My domain name is www.bossbiz.net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I think most of this, needs a look through the naming of your links. IE:
http://boss.net/index.bvp should be http://www.bossbiz.net
And many others hadn’t been linked yet. F&Q only has http://

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your input. But all the links have the proper URL address http://bossbiz.net/..... in the properties page. All links were verified before I published the pages. The URLs are disappearing. What do you suggest?

Hi, Strange one! I can only think of a few things. Is it possible that you have exited & not pressed OK in the insert hyperlink box? Or pressed cancel instead of OK.
It’s the same with many of the page links.
I can’t say I have heard of this before, that’s why I’m thinking has everything been named & saved properly as I notice a lot of hyperlinks have things like .bvp extensions that shouldn’t be there?

A few instances of your links ... you have applied them wrong

they need to be http://www.boss.net

http://www.boss.net/about_us.html

Clear the text in the linking area, close and reopen, type correctly and your issues should be resolved.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I've corrected the links and republished my pages. Most pages operate correctly. However, I still have a problem with the home or index page. Whenever I click on my home link www.bossbiz.net/index.bvp I get the message "page not found".

What else can I do?

Stop adding the extension .bvp to your pages. (BV does it automatically for you).
If you are typing in pages using the .bvp extension, you are way off base.... try typing in and using links such as www.bossbiz.net (and your index page will present by default --- never actually type in "index" in the link string!), or www.bossbiz.net/next_page.html ....note the extension .html ?? THAT is what you use!

Do yourself a favor and review the Linking Your Pages tutorial....you'll see things clearly in a couple of minutes.

Thank you so very much for your assistance. Tried your suggestions. All pages are working beautifully! I went through the tutorial a dozen times, but somehow I kept overlooking this simple solution.

Once again, thank you for your input. Now, on to getting my contact form to work.
