Yet another entertaining linguistic debate between the american and english... as for us Aussies we just sit back and enjoy the fact that attention is not focused on our 'fair dinkum true blue dinky die chuckin a shrimp on the barbie for a bit'o'tucker washed down wiv a coldie or 2'..

Yes, we are nuetral, we say 'fag' for a smoke, but we also say 'fag' for a home sexual.. And we do both, get pissed, and get pissed off... and we do them both very well... As for the term 'Fanny'... well, that's a different story altogether..

I spent hours trying to sit on my fanny after hearing the Americans can! Still can't figure it out!!

Ah yes, we drive on the parkway and park in the driveway.
and here are some sentences that actually appeared in church bulletins
or were announced in church services :

- Ladies, Don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of
those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your
husbands.

- The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to
a conflict.

- For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a
nursery downstairs.

- Next Thur. There will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the
help they can get.

- Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more
transfusions. She is also having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of
Pastor Jack's sermons.

- Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on Oct. 24th in the
church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

- Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of
several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

-The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind. They
may be seen in the basement on Fri. afternoon.

- This evening at 7 PM there will be a hymn sing in the park across
from the church. Bring a blanket and be prepared to sin.

- Weight Watchers will meet at 7 PM at the First Presbyterian Church.
Please use large double doors at the side entrance.
