I have paypal working on my site http://www.golfforeu.com/east_clare_reduced_fees.php for Buy Now
and www.golfforeu.com/drivers.php for Add To Cart
I done exactly what ladyeye said above, go to paypal create the buttons there and paste them into html boxes on your site.
When creating the buttons within paypal please ensure you fill out the successfull and cancel payment url, also make sure these are valid pages on your website.
