The below film, “KONY 2012″, seeks to make the guerrilla leader Joseph Kony infamous, certainly NOT to celebrate him or anything he has ever done but instead to educate the World of his existence, his horrifying career and ultimately to raise Worldwide support for his arrest.

KONY 2012 is an international campaign by Invisible Children, aiming to bring Joseph Kony to justice.
Who is Joseph Kony?
Joseph Kony is the world’s worst war criminal and one of the worlds most wanted men. In 1987 he took over leadership of an existing rebel group and renamed it the Lord’s Resistance Army (L.R.A.).
The L.R.A. has earned a reputation for its cruel and brutal tactics. When Joseph Kony found himself running out of fighters, he started abducting children to be soldiers in his army or “wives” for his officers. The L.R.A. is encouraged to rape, mutilate, and kill civilians–often with blunt weapons.
The L.R.A. is no longer active in northern Uganda (where it originated) but it continues its campaign of violence in Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, and South Sudan. In its 26-year history, the L.R.A. has abducted more than 30,000 children and displaced at least 2.1 million people.
What is the goal of JOSEPH KONY 2012?
Invisible Children has been working for 9 years to end Africa’s longest-running armed conflict. U.S. military advisers are currently deployed in Central Africa on a “time-limited” mission to stop Kony and disarm the L.R.A. If Kony isn’t captured this year, the window will be gone.
We are taking action to ensure these two things:
- That Joseph Kony is known as the World’s Worst War Criminal.
- That the U.S. military advisers support the Ugandan Army until Kony has been captured and the LRA has been completely disarmed. They need to follow through all the way and finish what they have started.
Why are we making Joseph Kony “famous“?
Invisible Children’s JOSEPH KONY 2012 campaign aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice. In this case, notoriety translates to public support. If people know about the crimes that Kony has been committing for 26 years, they will unite to stop him.
Secondly, we want Kony to be famous so that when he is stopped, he will be a visible, concrete example of international justice. Then other war criminals will know that their mass atrocities will not go unnoticed or unpunished.

I'm proud of you guys for speaking out about this. There are terrible things going on in the world: human trafficking of young girls for prostitution against their will, children being kidnapped, tortured and murdered and people killing other people in the name of "God."

40 years ago I was a UNICEF worker in Uganda. I saw much evil. If this is an opportunity to to fight just a little of that evil, I am joining in and will beg my friends to help. Such men must be eliminated from our world.

I gladly admit that I did not know! Now, I am glad that I do know. Let's bring him down, and the weapon suppliers right with him. For without weapons and ammunition, there would be no war, and no children soldiers. As independent as he seems, somebody has to support him. Power to the people, to us, to our world, and to its children! The pyramid is turning the right way up – which is upside down. Bravo to the maker of the film! What courage and persistence. Unbelievable the difference that one man can make….
Is this real? Where have all of you (and us) been in the last 26 years? Fighting all over the world for not very clear causes, most of them smelling oil and nothing else !! Do well meaning people wish to organize a serious world campaign to help humanity ? Then let's start prohibiting or at least drastically limiting the production and sales of arms of any kind. If successful than the web people may believe you.
