      Re: Your Google Sitemap

      I am confused..
I downloaded the ror.zip into BlueVoda.

Do I then save this zip into BlueVoda, Open? then unzip, then save in BlueVoda?

Next?? in BlueFTP, make a new folder called zipfiles? Will it unzip from there?
Need more input, sorry for the confusing.

        Bird,

ROR has nothing to do with BlueVoda, keep them separate. unzip and
install ROR, Please read through this thread for more instructions. Please
read the thread exactly above yours to learn how to use BlueFTP.

          Re: Your Google Sitemap

In your instructions you said: " Create a hyperlink from your home page to the xml file."

Should I create a small text area and provide the link to that text?
How can I test the link to be sure that it is ok?

The way you link it is up to you. test the link by clicking on it.

            Re: Your Google Sitemap

i downloaded site software, made ROR file and sent to my webfolder where my site is listed.
then i made my copyright word at bottom of website as hyperlink to www.mysite.com/ror.xml.

            also i used
            <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="ROR" href="ror.xml" />
            as the software said.

but i search many words to find my site but can not, i have orther site, and if i enter my mobile number it finds my site.
what can i do next, or if i need to change something.

              Hi,

I added the hyperlink with the sitemaplink, can you tell me is this correct.

The link is in a small mountain Image at the top right hand side of my page. Or should I be setting the hyperlink up differently.

Also can you let me know when you click on the hyperlink is this the info that is supposed to show or have I done something wrong.

                    Hi,

Another question about the sitemap. If you have more than one page on your website, do you add that link to your sitemap as well. Also If your website is on other peoples websites, (link exchanges) would you add their site to the generator. A bit new to all this so any help on how to get the most out of tool would be great.

Just your home page is fine..It is your most important page. It is the starting
                      point of your website.

Just wondering if you did have time to check the ror link on my web page. Did it need correction? In the case you did not find it, I hyperlinked it with the image of book that is on my index page...but I am not sure if I did it allright. Can you let me know?

                            Dear Brad,

I got your message with regards to the site map software.

I have a relatively simple site, The site is published and functional (for the purpose) and I am (and will be) adding pages as new information and documentation is made available.

Do I need to use the ROR software to create a site map? Or can I simply create and upload in my public_html a file called site_map containning links to the various pages of the site? Would that provide the same information to search engines?
                            Thanks

                            Chris.

For a simple site you do not really need a site map. A site map is a
MUST HAVE for sites that have pages that are not linked for there
homepage...3-4 pages, I would not bother.
